Phlebotomy Technician Certificate Program
The Phlebotomy Technician Certificate Program at HSIR is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment as a phlebotomist by develop the working knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to perform basic collection, transport, and processing of blood specimens for analysis in a medical laboratory. Students will learn to select the appropriate equipment and technique based on a thorough understanding of the needs of the patient, as well as the psycho-social factors that may impact specimen collection, and perform venipunctures and capillary (dermal) punctures adhering to all standards governing patient and employee safety. Phlebotomy Technicians can find work in various health care facilities, ranging from hospitals, blood banks, nursing homes, and private practices.
Upon completion of the program the student will be eligible to sit for the American Medical Technologists (AMT) Phlebotomy Technician (RPT) certification examination.”
