DHR Health Now Administering the Pfizer Vaccine to Anyone 12 Years of Age and Older

Edinburg, TX (May 12, 2021) – DHR Health is pleased to announce the addition of 12 to 15 year olds to the list of those eligible for the Pfizer vaccine.

Currently, DHR Health has successfully administered more than 200,000 doses of vaccines in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in our communities, with nearly half that number having been fully vaccinated at our vaccine clinic.

Still, the work continues as only roughly 51% of Texans have been vaccinated according to the latest information released by the Centers for Disease Control.

The CDC reports that in Hidalgo County, 64% of the population has received at least one dose of the vaccine.
In an effort to protect families, DHR Health will offer the free Pfizer vaccine to anyone 12 years of age and older, with the 12 to 17 year olds requiring the permission of a parent or guardian.

“Socializing is important to children, and getting this younger group vaccinated promotes the potential for them to get back into their classrooms safely, and attend sports events, birthday parties, and school activities they may have missed out on for the last year. We also hope that the parents who haven’t been vaccinated decided to get their vaccine at the same time their child does,” said Dr. Carlos Cardenas, Charmain of the DHR Health Board of Directors.

Beginning Thursday, May 13, 2021, DHR Health will offer the Pfizer vaccine weekdays and Sundays at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance, 118 Paseo Del Prado in Edinburg, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

*There is no registration required and the vaccine clinic remains open to anyone seeking a first or second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Again, if the child is between the ages of 12 and 17, they must have a parent or legal guardian present and ID will be required of the adults accompanying them.

The same dose requirements apply to the now eligible younger population which include a second dose after 21 days of the first vaccination.

Together we will create a healthier community.
