DHR HEALTH TO BEGIN ADMINISTERING PFIZER VACCINE TO CHILDREN AGES 5 TO 11

November 2, 2021 (Edinburg) – The Centers for Disease Control has given final approval for the use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in children ages 5 to 11. DHR Health will now be offering the lower dose specified for this age group during their regular vaccine clinic hours at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance, every Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.

The US Food and Drug Administration authorized Pfizer’s vaccine for this younger age group on Friday, and with today’s approval from the CDC, DHR Health will begin administering the lower dose of 10 micrograms to this age group starting Wednesday, November 3, 2021 as part of a two dose primary series, 3 weeks apart.
Pfizer says its clinical trial showed the vaccine provides 90.7% protection against symptomatic disease among this age group.
All children under the age of 18 require the approval of a parent or guardian to be vaccinated at DHR Health. There is currently no appointment needed. We will continue administering 1st, 2nd and 3rd doses of the Pfizer vaccine during the regular clinic hours.
The public can call (956) 362-6843 for COVID vaccine related questions or visit www.dhrhealth.com
