Get ready to make a splash at the 17th Annual “Fishing for Hope” Tournament presented by DHR Health. The tournament will be held at Jim’s Pier on South Padre Island on August 26, 2023.
More than just a fishing tournament, the event is also an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our community, as all proceeds will benefit the Hope Family Health Center of McAllen. The Hope Family Health Center is a non-profit family healthcare facility dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of uninsured families living the Rio Grande Valley. The center provides various primary medical, counseling, integrated behavioral health, peer support, case management, and wellness programs. All services are provided free of charge through the generous efforts of the center’s volunteer physicians and medical staff.
To date, the yearly Fishing for Hope Tournament, coordinated by DHR Health, has raised over $4 million for the center. “This year, more than ever, we need everyone’s help in reaching our fundraising goal,” said Marissa Castañeda, Senior Executive Vice President for DHR Health. “Due the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of uninsured individuals—those served by the Hope Family Health Center—has risen drastically in the Rio Grande Valley. So if you’re looking for some family-friendly fun, while hoping to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate, please come out and join us!”
