Edinburg, Texas: On Saturday, December 9, 2023, DHR Health, in collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club of Edinburg, held its inaugural “Joy to the World” Holiday Festival at the DHR Health Medical Tower Parking Lot off of Dove Avenue. The free event, which was open to the public, celebrated global traditions from around the world, featuring holiday-themed booths that represented over 13 different countries. The event also offered an array of family-friendly activities, live music performances from local schools, and the presence and support of various first responder organizations, including Blue Santa from the City of Edinburg Police Department.
Veronica Villarreal, DHR Health Clinics Chief Ambulatory Officer, expressed delight at the festival’s success. “It was great to see so many members of the community celebrate holiday traditions from around the world at our event,” Villarreal said. “Our clinic staff members went above and beyond to make sure event attendees had a memorable experience.”
The event was an opportunity for DHR Health to showcase the diverse medical and specialty services provided by the DHR Health Clinics, which offer over 70 locations from Starr County to Brownsville. Each booth was presented by a different specialty clinic: Mexico by the Bariatrics and Metabolic; India by the Cardiology; United States, by the Edinburg CISD School Community Clinic; Philippines, by the Orthopedic; Italy, by the Urology; Brazil, by the Advance Care Center; Australia, by the Transplant; Argentina, represented by the staff members from Dr. Dileep Menon’s Cardiology clinic located in Rio Grande City; France, by Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; Peru, by the Multispecialty Clinic located in Weslaco; Spain, by the Maternal Fetal Medicine; Egypt, by the Family Internal Medicine; and Japan, by the which was represented by Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy, and the Integrated Musculoskeletal Center in Harlingen.
Trophies were presented to the most creative booths, with first place going to Japan, second place to India, and third place to Brazil.
