Edinburg, TX— The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to DHR Health’s Renaissance Laboratories, Edinburg, TX based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP’s Accreditation Programs.
Dennis Davis, DHR Health Director of Pathology, was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided. Renaissance Laboratories is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.
“Renaissance Laboratories is proud to be a key stakeholder in the diagnosis and prevention of disease for our patients in our community,” said Davis. “Although the demands for providing high quality, cost effective, timely patient care results have increased over years, the quality at our hospital has improved substantially. The deficiency rate during our unannounced inspection on February 23, 2018 was 0.25%.”
The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal-to or more-stringent-than the government’s own inspection program.
During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
“This achievement is a culmination of the concerted efforts and diligence of the entire DHR Health laboratory team,” said Marissa Castañeda, DHR Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer. “We have been continuously accredited by the College of American Pathologists since 2008, which means our patients receive the highest quality of care every time they utilize Renaissance Laboratories.”
