Mohannad Awad, MD

Biography

DHR Health is excited to welcome Dr. Mohannad Awad, to our prestigious team at the DHR Health Urology Institute. Dr. Awad looks forward to helping people in the Rio Grande Valley, treating a variety of urinary and pelvic conditions like kidney stones, enlarged prostate, cancers of the kidney and prostate, as well as ureteropelvic junction obstruction and more. Dr. Awad uses safe and effective, minimally invasive methods, including advanced techniques like percutaneous and endoscopic kidney stone treatments, laser enucleation of enlarged prostates (HoLEP), and robotic-assisted surgery.

Dr. Awad earned his medical degree from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He completed a one-year internship in general surgery at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, connected with Tufts Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He then did his urology residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. Afterwards, he completed a two-year fellowship in endourology and minimally invasive urologic oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Awad also earned a master’s degree in Clinical Research from the University of California, San Francisco. He has published many studies and presented in numerous meetings on safe and effective treatments for urology conditions.
